About The Partnership

The California/Nevada Community Action Partnership (Cal/Neva) is the member Association of California and Nevada Community Action Agencies (CAA's) and other non-profit organizations that together serve over 4 million low income individuals each year. The numerous services our members provide throughout California and Nevada include Head Start, senior nutrition, job training, community economic development, homeless shelters, after school and other youth programs, Food Banks, community gardens and other anti-hunger programs, energy assistance and home weatherization services.

Our members work with many other non-profits in their communities, often serving as an umbrella organization for a coordinated approach to ending poverty in their communities. Their funding comes from the federal, state and local governments, foundations, corporations and donations. Thousands of volunteers donate their time and resources to this effort of ending poverty in their local communities. Every CAA is governed by a tri-partite board consisting of one third elected officials or their representatives, one third service providers or local businesses and one third low-income representatives. These local boards assess their community's needs and develop programs to address them.

Cal/Neva provides our member organizations with quarterly meetings that feature workshops, speakers and networking opportunities. We hold training sessions in a variety of areas to help them stay current on important anti-poverty issues and develop a professional workforce. In addition, we provide advocacy for our members and the clients they serve before state legislative, regulatory and administrative bodies. We also provide our members with legislative alerts on important issues, identify funding opportunities and hold an Annual Conference with presenters with expertise in our field.

Regular Membership in the California/Nevada Community Action Partnership is open to all Community Action Agencies.  Associate Membership is open to all other non-profits that serve low-income communities.  Sustaining Membership is open to any organization that supports our goals and philosophy.  Individual Membership is similarly open to any individual who supports the Association's goals and philosophy.
